Miss Empire Royalty Pageant
By Candi Sterling
In 2009, Miss Empire Royalty Pageant has once again proven that the pageantry world is far more than the perceived beauty and glitz. The National Pageant, based on the East coast, is dedicated to volunteerism and community service. In fact, the altruistic nature of the organization is what sets them apart from any other pageant today as they tackle not one, but multiple charitable causes.
Once crowned, a Miss Empire Royalty Queen embarks on a very active journey in the course of her new reign. This includes much community outreach, networking, volunteerism, numerous appearances and representation at high profile events for the New York State and National pageantry.
At the top of their community service priority list is working with New York City’s local veterans’ associations. Miss Empire Royalty Reigning Queens, past winners, alternates and their families continue to be involved throughout the year with a wide range of veterans’ activities and events. Among these include the annual NYC Veterans Day Parade (a favorite of Miss Empire Royalty); HBO sponsored events, Intrepid visits and Museum event, the annual Marines Anniversary, July Fourth festivities, Memorial Day ceremony, etc. In fact, the pageant is a virtual extension of the veterans’ association having established strong ties of dedication, commitment, appreciation and recognition of service.
Founded in 2001; Miss Empire Royalty has clearly achieved their goal of creating “a family oriented pageant where women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds can compete in a fair atmosphere and has been working diligently to make this vision a reality with practical yet charismatic, insightful and inspiring style.”
”Inspirational” is certainly one way to describe the pageant as volunteerism extends to active participation and fundraising for other such worthwhile causes including AIDS WALK GMHC, Revlon Walk, Multiple Sclerosis Walk, Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk and Susan G. Komen organization.
Visitation to local state officials, television opportunities and media exposure also characterize the typical agenda for the Miss Empire Royalty Pageant family. They salute our veterans of past and present day conflicts and remain forever grateful for their service to our great nation, with honor, pride and hard work.
